This illustration of my mom is the result of my first Illustrator experience.. it's a little odd, and my mother can't look at it without getting slightly offended, but creating this was a great learning experience. I can pick out at least 5 ways that I would improve the image, and I feel like it suffers without a more developed background.

I gotta say I giggled a bit about you're mom being slightly offended. You should show her the instant classic half-skeleton melty mum (I don't quite remember who did it. They didn't post it yet).I think your mother's reaction to it would be priceless. I think as an intro piece it's awesome -- The curls man! Those are so awesome and must have taken you forever. I don't think you're lacking without a background. Your mother takes up so so so much of the picture that any background really would be, at least to me, just needless clutter. If you played around with size or the like, maybe a bg would be the way to go. As it is -- I think it's great =)
